Overview:

SevenGen’s guided training program covers hazardous waste management laws and regulations, including proper recognition and identification strategies for hazardous waste. Participants gain a deep understanding of safe management and handling of onsite hazardous waste, and guidance for selecting appropriate labels and markings for waste containers. Our course addresses best-practices and procedures for preparing shipments for transportation to treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDF), with emphasizes on the importance of recordkeeping to ensure compliance and facilitate enforcement measures.

Who should take this course?

If you generate, store, manage or handle hazardous waste at your job site and offer it for transportation, then you and your employees must undergo Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and DOT hazmat certification training. By completing this DOT RCRA hazmat course, you’ll satisfy Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation requirements for mandatory initial certification and recertification.

Objectives:

  • Understand the background and need for RCRA hazardous waste regulations.
  • Understand how waste accumulation works.
  • Understand the basic toxicology and terminology related to hazardous waste.
  • Be able to accurately fill out a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest
  • Meet the requirements of 49 CFR Part 172.704 for certification in hazardous waste transportation.
  • Know how to identify and manage hazardous waste.
  • Be able to determine generator status and maintain facility compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
  • Recognize regulations for recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Locate and use the Federal hazardous materials and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Properly label and mark hazardous waste containers for shipment
  • Complete manifests for hazardous waste
  • Select proper packaging for hazardous materials.
  • Develop appropriate emergency response information to accompany shipments.
